Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness is a form of meditation that draws our focus away from our busy minds and brings us into the present moment using different techniques.

What is Mindful Meditation?

Like anything else, meditation takes time, practise and consistency. Mindfulness: is to bring one’s focus into the present moment, to let external distractions melt away and invite stillness into the physical body.

We do this using techniques such as guided meditations like the ‘body scan,’ this is a technique that brings awareness to different body parts and encourages us to feel grounded, ‘counting the breath’ and ‘focusing awareness on the senses.’ All these techniques encourage the participant to focus less on the constant distractions the mind likes to create and instead try to focus on one thing. We can also use breathing to calm our minds. It is said by taking just 3 intentional, deeper, and longer breaths, you can start to calm your nervous system.

Mindfulness in a corporate setting

I am so lucky that I have been able to bring wellbeing classes into corporate settings and amazing charities such as Maggie’s.

In a ‘go go go’ environment, it’s very easy to get swept up in going 100 miles an hour. It can lead to stress, built up tension in the body, and can actually reduce productivity as our minds often aren’t clear.

By taking, even just a few minutes out of your day to breathe a little slower and more mindfully, take a gentle stretch, we are encouraging our nervous systems to relax and our minds to slow down. It’s almost like hitting the reset button.

It is fantastic that more and more companies are realising the benefits of introducing mindfulness, meditation and movement into the workplace. Whether it be online or in person, 10 minutes or 60 minutes, it can help us all to feel a little bit calmer and clearer.

Testimonials

I am delighted to say that we have been working with Eleanor for the last year for our Employee Health and Wellbeing Programme. Eleanor has great knowledge and experience in her field and she manages to convey this very naturally through her practices. Eleanor has been a delight to work with from a Company point of view as not only has she brought some great ideas as to how we can best deliver our health and wellbeing programme to all our employees but she has also ensured that she has worked with our brief in ensuring that we have made our wellbeing programme a very personal experience for all. Eleanor was keen to learn about our business from the beginning ensuring that she is fully aligned with our own values and ethics. From her first site visit Eleanor was exceptionally personable with everyone she met and as such she has made all those who have attended her sessions feel at ease immediately. As a result of this we have had nothing but positive comments about all her sessions.

Eleanor has been working with our global team for 2 years, starting just after lockdown, providing online Meditation and Movement classes. She has been brilliant and professional the whole time. For our team, it has been amazing having moments of mindfulness and movement during a busy day, building well-being into a work environment. Additionally, these sessions have helped us connect in a time of isolation. Thank you Eleanor!

I have been working with Eleanor for around four years and always found her to be a brilliant teacher and trainer. Eleanor has contributed to the programme at Maggie's in various ways and I have always had positive feedback from the people she has supported. She is able to adapt to the specific needs of individuals and help people to engage in exercise in a way that helps them with their values.
